<read> S. McIntyre "Globalization, the Rise of China, and Questions of Identity and Place in Contemporary Art From Taiwan"
There are few books on Asian contemporary art written in English, but they are all wonderful. I'll teach you stealthily.
This page would be changed and corrected in the future.
If you look at contemporary art in Taiwan, there are works on political and social issues. It is linked to Taiwan's history, for example, with Japanese rule, anti-government and ethnic issues etc. I became interested in Taiwanese art because I wondered, "Why do Taiwanese artists represent such works?". From the Japanese point of view, it is completely incomprehensible and dangerous. But I decided I will try to get away from the Japanese perspective and get closer to their thinking. At the time I met this essay in the first step.
This essay was published in the exhibition catalogue of "Jie (Boundaries)" in the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in 2014. I didn't see this exhibition. And Taiwan in 2014 is, you know, they had "sunflower movement".
In a nutshell, the answer in this paper is that Taiwanese political parties and cultural policies are linked together. Over 70years in Japan, I know, we Japanese party are always the Jiminto, so art can exist. Taiwan also manages cultural policies whether KMT or DPP. But the KMT era and DPP era's exhibitions are different.
Oh, therefore, I am thinking of another thing. Someday I will write about it.
